Armie Hammer’s Family Legacy of Crime
The disgraced actor comes from a long line of sexually aggressive men and criminals.
Armie Hammer has become another star who has fallen from grace due to his private life. Armie has been accused of various cases of sexual misconduct, including violent sexual encounters. One woman claims he raped her for four hours in a Los Angeles Hotel, slapping her head off the wall. She said that he was sexually and emotionally abusive during her four-year relationship with him.
Although it is clear from reading reports that Armie enjoys a sex life that is more fifty shades than vanilla, it is unclear whether these acts were consensual. He has not been charged with any wrongdoing or sexual misconduct, to date.
Armie’s background has also recently been reported. He comes from a highly dysfunctional family with its fair share of illegal activity. Five generations of males have a sordid past. They have used their privilege and money from the oil industry to commit various crimes.
Julius was the great, great grandfather of Armie. Julius was a doctor and Russian immigrant. He moved to the US and became a central member of the Communist party.
When the wife of a Russian diplomat came to him with a problem, he performed an abortion on her. Marie Oganesoff died later that day from a mix of complications. Julius was arrested and convicted of first-degree manslaughter. For this, he received a sentence ranging from three to twelve years; it is unclear how much time he served.
Armand was the man Armie was named after. At twenty-two, when his father was incarcerated, he needed to step up and run the family business. So he left a medical career to take over Allied Drug’s.
Armand was said to have links to Russia; they supported him in his business ventures. Armand was the driving power to make the Hammer dynasty as rich as it is. Whether he had help from the Russians has never been proved. Armand moved to the Soviet Union in 1921, living there for a decade to fortify his connections with the country of his father’s birth. During this time, Armand married and had his only child Julian.
By 1950, Armand had a string of failed relationships behind him. He moved to New York and married wealthy Francis Barrett Tolman in 1956. His new wife invested heavily in his failing company. With her money and his business skills, Occidental Petroleum was grown to incredible success over the years.
By this time, Armand was eager to hide his Russian connections. He was friends with many prominent men, including Prince Charles. In 1996, a biography by Edward Jay Epstein exposed a businessman who was also into money laundering and espionage. This was never brought to light as he used to record all his conversations with others through listening devices, some placed in his cuff links. These recordings were his protection against prosecution.
Armand was implicated in giving money to Nixon to cover up the Watergate Scandal. In 1989, reports emerged that he had strange sexual demands that largely humiliated women. Despite the evidence against him, President H.W.Bush pardoned him. He died a respected man in 1990, with a wealth estimated to be $180 million.
When he died, he left his fortune to his grandson, Michael, Armie’s father, rather than his son. Many of his other relatives were cut entirely out of the will, causing controversy that continues today.
Julian had done much to anger his father over the years, mainly due to his drinking. As a young man, he had little to do with his father and had to make appointments to see him.
In 1955, Julian killed a man at his Los Angeles home over a gambling debt, it was his twenty-sixth birthday. Although he was arrested immediately, Julian claimed that the shooting was in self-defence. Armand had a friend deliver $50 000 in cash to a lawyer, the charges disappeared.
Michael’s sister Casey states that her father sexually assaulted her as a child. He was also said to be abusive to other members of the family.
Casey got nothing, not even a photo, from her family. She now works in Home Depot in poverty. Recently she has spoken out about her family. Those close to her have suggested that she watches her back and looks out for strangers that look familiar.
It was no surprise that Armand left his legacy to his grandson. Julian died in 1996, shortly after his father.
Like his son Armie, Michael is known to be a drinker. On one occasion, when drunk at the airport, he missed his flight. Jumping on the next available flight, he sat next to a beautiful woman, Dru Ann Mobley. Within a year, they were married and she gave birth to Armie.
With control of the company, Michael had some big decisions to make. His first was to turn the Hammer museum that Armand had spent $100 million on, to the UCLA art department. Armand had reestablished his Jewish faith, Michael directed funds to several Christian groups, including the Jews for Jesus organisation.
In 1997, Michael moved his family to the Grand Cayman Islands and relinquished his US citizenship. It is believed that he did this for tax reasons taking advantage of the Caribbean tax haven. It is a home they still own today and the country Armie fled from whilst in lockdown.
In 2007, Michael and his family returned to the US, but the controversy wasn’t far behind them. In 2011, the Knoedler Gallery, which Michael owned, was accused of selling a forged Pollack painting worth $17 million. The investigation would uncover many other forgeries that had been sold for an estimated profit of $70 million.
At the trial, Michael was accused of using the gallery as his private piggy bank, constantly taking money and purchasing items. One hour before he was due to testify as a witness in the trial, the case was settled for an undisclosed sum.
Like his son and predecessors, Michael had a strange sexual appetite. He frequently talked about his sex throne or naughty chair. This was a designed chair with a hole and a cage under it. Women were locked into the cage whilst Michael sat on it. But, again, there is no suggestion that this was not consensual.
Rumours have also circulated that Armand had left money vaults of cash throughout the world. This was supported when Michael’s college friend Scott Dietrick was arrested with $60 000 of undeclared cash on him as he flew into the US. However, the bail was paid; the case once again disappeared.
Despite Armie’s wealth, he claims that although raised in paradise, his mother taught him good values as she came from a less affluent family. He states his mother refused to let them grow up rich she would find out what his friends had for allowance and match it.
Armie took these values and was determined to be financially independent of his family. It is hard to know whether this is still the case.
When he announced he wanted to act, none of his family supported the idea; they thought it was a poor way to represent the family name. Still, he pursued his dreams and achieved the success that all could be proud of.
Everything was progressing well with Armie; he was married to Elizabeth Chambers with two children and happily pursuing his dream job. Then like so many of us, he was hit by lockdown. Exiled in the Cayman Islands with his family, he started sending a mix of random social media messages.
He fled the island; the media reported he was getting a divorce. Armie had a string of affairs, but when he accidentally text his wife rather than his girlfriend, she filed for divorce.
Although Elizabeth and Armie have mentioned that Armie was a dominant lover who liked to pull hair, Elizabeth has always stated that all of this was consensual, but things changed as their marriage continued. She recently released a statement on Instagram, that had many wondering whether this first statement was a lie.
Within the media, several women have come forward with similar stories. Armie starts by talking to them about the trauma of living in such a big family; they bond, then he love bombs them with gifts and words. He makes them feel like the most important woman in the world. When they fall for him, he mentions bondage and it becomes clear he is more Christian Grey than Winklevoss.
Armie has just left rehab for a drinking addiction and is living back with his family. He has no money and is said to be living off loans from friends. Several times he has been onto social media and written worrying posts. Women have also shared text messages that were allegedly from him about the sexual activities he wanted to perform on them.
Many supporters have stated that Armie is a genuine man who wears his heart on his sleeve. None of the activities he enjoys is illegal if both parties consent. He has never been charged with any offence and no one has ever come forward to state that he has acted on his cannibal fantasies described in the released messages.
Time will reveal whether Armie is as genuine as his friends’ state or whether he has followed the family dynasty into criminal acts.
A lawyer for Hammer, Andrew Brettler — All interactions between Mr. Hammer and his former partners were consensual. They were fully discussed, agreed upon in advance with his partners, and mutually participatory. The stories perpetuated on social media were designed to be salacious in an effort to harm Mr. Hammer, but that does not make them true.
If innocent of the crimes he has been accused of, we can only hope that, like Johnny Depp, he gets the freedom and closure to return to a career he loved. If guilty, we can only hope that the family money does not buy him freedom, as it has for generations before him.
