Katherine and Sheila Lyon went missing on 25th March 1975. They had walked to the local shopping mall in Wheaton, Maryland. Katherine was ten and her sister twelve; both would vanish without a trace.
The sisters had an older brother, Jay, who later would choose a career as a homicide detective. Their father, John Lyon, was a well-known radio personality.
They came from a quiet, middle-class neighbourhood where parents were happy to let their children play outside. Stranger danger was not a concept the neighbourhood needed to worry about, or was it?
What happened to the sisters would not be known until decades later, in a case that would haunt the police department.
