Criminology involves studying both social and individual criminal actions to predict future crimes. It has become popular over the last decade, with famous cases using a degree of it to be solved. 

However, criminology started in the late 1700s and early 1800s in Europe and has many different disciplines, such as biological and social. The criminologist aims to answer why certain people are led to break the law and commit a crime. 

One of the most famous names associated with this process is Robert Ressler, who was instrumental in setting up the Behavioural Science Department for the FBI. His path was made more accessible by some of these pioneering scientists. 

The history of criminology is as fascinating as the crimes it has helped solve.
