Let me introduce you to Adrian Carton De Wiart, possibly one of the luckiest soldiers. Or maybe unlucky, depending on your outlook.
Carton De Wiart was known to many foes and friends as ‘The Unkillable Soldier.’’ He was a one-eyed, one-handed war hero who fought in three major wars for decades. He was shot in the face, head, stomach, ankle, leg, hip and ear.
To add to this impressive tally, he also survived plane crashes and tunnelled out of a prisoner-of-war camp, amongst other incredible feats. He was respected by all who served under him as he had an attitude of never asking any soldier to do something he was not prepared to do himself.
