the very first thing that came to my mind was RL Stine's fear street series, especially the Netflix series that centers on a woman being accused of witchcraft and one of her hands being under a tree. it is curious that they were never able to locate the graffiti artist and there were all sorts of stories that ended up in dead ends. i wonder what ever became of Bella's child
I think as time went on there was more than one graffiti artist. It is possible if they still had her body that DNA could have helped locate the child presuming of course it survived.
If this had occurred in the Southern U.S. around that time, some residents might have concluded that Bella had been "goophered", "hoodooed", or been the victim of some other supernatural manifestation. That is just how it looks from here, though...
